[HornBow] How to get through your Humidity-season?
Most bows are covered by leathers and raw lacquer, providing humidity-resistance in most situations.
However, in rainy seasons, relative humidities could raise up to higher than 90% while last more than a week in my zone.
This could result in decenting of poundage and some dramatic scenarios...
To avoid that, keeping a hornbow in an appropriate environment is important.
It is relative easy for modern human: Air conditioner and DeHumidifier!
With them, your bow can survive rainy seasons!
If the storage condition dose not allow you to turn on AC or dehumidifier all day long, there are many methods to reduce the level of environment humidity. The thumb up rule of these methods is: ThermoDynamic. lol hold-on...
It's just a story about heating, evaporation, etc.
Today I would like to share a method to reduce humidity using a Lodge Dutch oven.
Procedure:
1. Place your Dutch oven on a gas stove, burn it (there is nothing inside the oven) ;) 10 minutes may be enough.
2. Turn off the gas. Check the temperature above the oven. Find a warm region (~ 50-60 Celsius degree) to heat your bow.
3. Hold the bow and move it in the warm region slowly till the bow becomes as warm as your hands (~40 Celsius degree). During heating, it is important to keep your hands, as a temperature-sensor, in between the bow and oven to avoid over-heating your bow.
4. Done! see how easy it is~
[Trick]
A. Do Not Use Open Flame/Fire
B. Keep your hands in-between the bow and oven.
